What are Premium Cellular PVC Siding Pros, Cons, Cost and Long Term Value?
This year, at the International Builders’ Show in Orlando, I saw trends and new products that were really impressive. Cellular PVC siding definitely was one of the highlights this year as a siding category worth paying attention to, especially the premium cellular PVC exterior cladding from Elite Cladding™.
What is Premium Cellular PVC Siding?
Premium Cellular PVC siding is a, low-maintenance exterior siding made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin and foaming agents. The product is solid, moisture-resistant, highly durable “synthetic wood” that’s designed to perform in tough exterior conditions.
It’s a smart long-term investment for homeowners who want durability without the constant upkeep. It resists rot, insects, and moisture, and it holds its look for years. On top of that, it delivers real curb appeal. When it’s installed properly, it’s one of those materials that just makes sense — it performs well, and it looks great too.
Types of Exterior Siding Materials
Overview of popular exterior siding materials:
- Traditional Vinyl siding – Typically the cheapest option, low maintenance, but you get what you pay for.
- Fiber cement siding – Tough, reliable, built for Canadian weather—but needs upkeep.
- Wood siding – Looks great, but it’s a lot of work. Miss the maintenance, you’ll pay for it.
- Engineered wood – Nice balance—better durability than real wood, less hassle.
- Aluminum siding – Strong and long-lasting, but it can dent and scratch—so not perfect.
- Cellular PVC siding – Premium options. Durable, stable, low maintenance and it lasts

Let’s break down the pros and cons of premium cellular PVC siding.
Pros of Premium Cellular PVC Siding
High Durability and Low Maintenance
Premium Cellular PVC won’t rot, warp, or attract pests like wood can. It’s impervious to moisture and holds up against the elements much better than traditional wood siding. Cleaning is usually just soap and water, no repainting or sealing every few years – that’s low maintenance.

Looks Great
Unlike basic vinyl siding, high-end cellular PVC products mimic painted wood and come in a range of colors and profiles that don’t look plastic. Just make sure the product features an engineered capstock or UV resistance, that’s where you see real performance gains.
High Level Thermal and Weather Performance
Premium cellular PVC products generally have better insulating properties and more resilience in freeze-thaw climates than low-end vinyl. The capstock and material formulation help with fading, temperature swings and impact resistance.
Minimal Long-Term Upkeep = Long-Term Value
Once you install it properly, premium cellular PVC can last decades (often 30 to 50 +years). The investment pays off because you’re not replacing or repainting every 10–12 years. When we pick materials for our house, we want to make sure they last.

Cons of Premium Cellular PVC Siding
Initial Cost is Higher
Premium Cellular PVC siding is more expensive upfront, than basic vinyl or some fiber cement options. That can scare homeowners off unless they think long term.
Needs Professional Installation
The material expands and contracts with temperature. If installers don’t allow for proper movement and nailing, you can see warping or gaps. We want to avoid that in siding. Proper technique and hardware are essential for optimal performance. I’ve recently been introduced to a Premium Cellular PVC siding system called Elite Cladding™, which features the AuraLok™ Panel Connector System, a secure, interlocking design and Veyros™ Technology, an advanced material innovation. Together, these technologies are engineered to enhance durability, stability, and long-term curb appeal in exterior building systems. More on that below.
Mixed Performance in Some Markets
Some products in the broader PVC family have had inconsistent long-term performance, with UV fading and require painting. That doesn’t mean PVC is bad, it just means you need to understand the spec sheet, check warranties, and trust companies that test their products and materials. That’s why a quality product that resists fading like Elite Cladding™ is important.
How Much Does Premium Cellular PVC Siding Cost?
Average Material Cost per Square Foot
Premium Cellular PVC siding generally costs between $6 and $13+ per square foot installed, making it a premium siding option compared to standard vinyl. Material costs alone often exceed $4.50 per square foot. For a 2,000 square foot home, total project costs typically range from $15,000 to over $30,000, depending on labor, trim, and removal of old siding.
Installation Costs
Installation costs generally run between $6 and $25+ per square foot installed. If you’re comparing strictly on installation cost, go vinyl if budget is tight, go fiber cement if you want durability and can handle the maintenance, and go premium cellular PVC if you want performance, low maintenance and long-term value. Remember, you’re not just paying for siding, you’re paying for how long it lasts and how many headaches you avoid later. Plus, I would always recommend getting a pro to do the installation.
Factors That Affect Price:
As with any upgrade to your home there are essential aspects homeowners need to consider like:
- Size of your home
- Labor costs in your area
- What region you live in
- The complexities of your home regarding trim and accessories

What Makes Elite Cladding™ Stands Out
Elite Cladding™ is a “Premium” cellular PVC siding that addresses common weaknesses in standard PVC installations.
- AuraLok™ Panel Connector System: Unlike standard tongue-and-groove, this system locks panels together, creating a nearly invisible, permanent seam that eliminates buckling and wind-related lifting.
- Veyros™ Technology: This provides superior protection against UV damage, fading, and impact, often resulting in stronger color retention than non-capped PVC alternatives.
- Installation Efficiency: The locking system makes installation faster and more precise, reducing labor costs and potential for installer error.
- Performance Focus: Engineered to be part of the building envelope, offering superior water management and airflow compared to traditional cladding.
- Design Range: Elite Cladding™ brings both lap and board-and-batten profiles with edge-to-edge colour, which eliminates the white seams that other PVC products have.
