Why EZBlocks Is A Game-Changer
I’ve been in the construction industry for decades. I love seeing how new technologies and systems have begun to transform how our buildings are designed and built. One of the most promising innovations in this space is EZblocks—an innovative, sustainable wooden block building system that can create efficiencies and reduce costs for temporary or permanent installations of all sorts.
I came across this technology a few years ago. In Toronto during the pandemic, patios and booths made out of EZBlocks were everywhere. Formerly known as GripBlock, these wooden blocks were used to build custom, temporary enclosures for outdoor dining spaces and events.
ONE BLOCK. SO MANY POSSIBILITIES.
One day, I watched how an outdoor dining area was being constructed using EZBlocks, and I couldn’t help but pick up a block to see how it was built. What I learned about the blocks and the patented GripMetal teeth that help bind it together was highly impressive. That’s why I believe this is a game-changing technology.
Combining cutting-edge materials, ease of use, and sustainability, EZBlocks stands out as a prime example of how innovation can transform even the most established industries.
What are EZBlocks?
Think of EZBlocks as a kid’s building block. It’s an innovative building block system that can be used for interior and exterior applications.
EZblocks are lightweight, durable, and incredibly easy to assemble. This also makes them incredibly versatile and increases value over time as you “Build Today, Change Tomorrow”, like their slogan says.
EZblocks began as a solution for outdoor dining spaces for restaurants in the downtown Toronto core during the 2020 pandemic. Since then, the company has since grown to activate a variety of large-scale builds across Ontario. Applications include:
-
- Trade show booths
- Marquee Letters
- Booths
- Pop-up seasonal markets
- Temporary tables and seating
- Barrier and privacy walls
Sustainable Technology
Each EZBlock is made out of different species of wood that are post-industrial recycled offcuts. Each wooden block has aluminum strips with binding teeth to provide impressive lateral strength and acts like “metal velcro”.
It also has zero chemicals or adhesives, has a very low carbon output for manufacturing and utilizes a renewable natural material, which is amazing. A step towards a greener future.

EZBlocks Are Easy To Assemble
One of the standout features of EZblocks is their ease of use. I have built a few different things with these wooden blocks, and it’s easy. Time is money, so I really appreciate how easy it is to assemble quickly with EZBlocks.
EZblocks can be installed quickly with minimal training, which not only reduces construction time but also mitigates the risks associated with human error.

Build Today. Change Tomorrow.
Just like children’s building blocks, the different ways to use EZBlocks is only limited by our imagination. Interior screen walls, integrated plants, landscaping planters, patio enclosures, booth and event structures, ice rink enclosures, fencing, retaining walls, and the list just keeps going. The beauty of this wooden block is that you can build something entirely different the next day.

Special Projects With EZBlocks
The EZBlocks team works with architects, engineers and designers to come up with new applications, different configurations, styles and finishes to expand on the look and feel of the end product. It is exciting to see the different applications.
Legion 25 Exhibit Hall, Sault Ste Marie
A great example is the Legion 25 Exhibit project in Sault Ste Marie that utilizes EZBlocks for different exhibit displays, events and other functions. This allows the space to be transformed into different uses and layouts. It’s so simple that anyone can do it. The Legion opened a new space that includes an exhibit hall that pays respect to the sacrifice and memory of all those that have served. There was a need to create displays to showcase commemoration pieces for visitors, but also be able to change the configuration for events and campaigns as needed. EZBlocks was the perfect fit for this museum.
Winter Wonderland with Cabins, Toronto
EZBlocks help build an epic experience at RendezViews in downtown Toronto. During the summer months, the space showcased beautiful Marquee Letters, custom seating, Mural walls and cabins. Perfect space for groups. During the winter, this space converted to a winter wonderland, complete with warming stations and cabins.
Public Ice Rinks, Greater Toronto Area
EZBlocks helps communities and municipalities create engagement within their towns. EZBlocks has set up various ice rinks across the GTA for temporary enjoyment. I think this is such a clever use of the blocks.
I love coming across products that push the boundaries of traditional construction. This means researching eco-friendly materials, adopting cutting-edge technologies, and implementing methods that reduce environmental impact. EZBlocks checks all the boxes.
