Challenges of Renovating a 70 year old cabin

The renovation journey is not without its hurdles. From stubborn kitchen cabinets to time constraints as winter approaches, Sherry and her team tackle each challenge head-on. The goal is to create a functional, beautiful space that retains the cottage’s original charm while meeting modern standards.

The renovation kicks off with a full-scale demolition. Walls, ceilings, and floors are stripped down to reveal the cabin’s hidden secrets. Sherry and her team uncover a mix of surprises, from outdated insulation to unexpected mold. Despite the challenges, the structure’s solid framing from the 1940s impresses the team, providing a sturdy foundation for the renovation.

As the renovation progresses, the cottage begins to transform from drab to fab, promising a delightful retreat for future guests. Sherry’s dedication and creativity shine through, making this project a testament to her skill and passion for home renovation.

Sherry Holmes focuses on modernizing the cabin while preserving its rustic charm. The kitchen is reimagined with an L-shaped design, maximizing storage and functionality. The bathroom undergoes a transformation, with a custom vanity and built-in storage to enhance the space. Throughout the process, Sherry ensures that every inch of the cabin is utilized efficiently, maintaining the cozy cottage feel.
