Homeowners Mark and Renae had big plans to build a basement apartment in their home for Mark’s aging mom, but a crooked contractor left them with a dangerous mess and a trail of excuses. Mike, Michael, and Sherry are shocked to find live wires everywhere, sloppy framing, and dangerous gas leaks.

This was a townhouse that looked picture-perfect from the outside but was hiding a host of hidden inspection disasters. The homeowner, Janet, got a home inspection done, and was told the only issues with the house are cosmetic. A week after moving into the house, Janet noticed a leak in the ceiling in the kitchen. The home inspector DID note this, but assured Janet that it was an old issue that was fixed already. She brought in a plumber who couldn't tell where the leak was coning from. Then I walked in. From faulty wiring to dangerous mold, the property was a ticking time bomb waiting to explode. The homeowners had no idea the extent of the issues lurking beneath the surface.
My own thorough inspection revealed multiple safety hazards. The electrical system was outdated and poorly installed, posing a severe fire risk. The plumbing was another nightmare, with leaks and improper fittings threatening to flood the home. And lots of visible mold – that's a health hazard.
We rolled up their sleeves and got to work. We were determined to turn this disaster into a dream home. We ripped out the faulty wiring and installed a brand-new electrical system, obviously making sure the house was safe and up to code. The plumbing was completely redone, and we made sure we installed high-quality fittings to prevent future issues.
But the biggest transformation came from addressing the mold problem. We brought in a team of pros for mold remediation and we installed proper ventilation to keep the home healthy and safe. The homeowners were beyond grateful. This is why I do what I do.
