In this episode of Holmes Family Rescue, we helped Iwan and Ivona with their kitchen and living space. Their little boy, Noah, was fighting cancer and had lost his legs. He used a wheelchair.
We needed to give Noah a home he could grow into, be independent, and give his parents peace of mind, knowing he would be safe.
Iwan and Ivona deserved our help in making this home comfortable for Noah.
Our crew worked hard to make it fully accessible, including an elevator so Noah could easily get to different levels. We opened up the layout to make it easier for Noah to move around.
Adding smart technology, including voice command features was important for us to help Noah.
Noah’s Love of Outer Space
We had the pleasure of working with Cynthia Soda as the interior designer on this job.
We incorporated Noah’s love of outer space, and building blocks throughout his bedroom and bathroom, but the best part of helping this family was Noah giving it 10 thumbs up!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍.
Noah loves stars and Lego, so our interior designer chose to bring his interests in his bathroom.
Noah’s bathroom from Holmes Family Rescue – black matte fixtures and grab bars go beautifully with the white, blue, and soft gray tiles. Shower accessories from Bath Depot.
Color changing facuet with Noah’s name etched on it!
We opened up the layout so Noah can move around easily.
Behind the blue door, we added a Savaria elevator in Noah’s house so he can enter and exit his house confidently.
We installed this flooring made from rubber wood. We did a lot of research and this hardwood was exactly what we needed for the job. Water resistant (so Noah can wheel himself from the bathroom to the living room). It can actually sit in water for 72 hours. Flooring from Twelve Oaks Flooring
This InvisaCook is a kitchen countertop you can cook directly on. Its installed beneath your countertop and works through your countertop to effectively heat the surface and create an adequate cooking space where there might not traditionally appear to be one. It doesn’t generate direct heat, so it’s perfect for our little Noah.
We do our best to integrate products and technologies to leave our homeowners with a safe, durable and functional home. For Noah’s house, the InvisaCook (Ciot ) was a great fit. It’s a kitchen countertop you can cook directly on. I saw this a few years ago and have been waiting for the perfect project to install this on. Because the countertop does not heat up, you’ll feel safer, and there’s less risk of burns.
Noah is growing fast, happy and doing great! We often get comments and emails asking about where the families we help now are. I love this because our shows are about real people with real contractors or renovation disaster stories. Our shows are not made up.
