HANDYMAN SUPERSTAR CHALLENGE

HGTV’s inaugural HANDYMAN SUPERSTAR CHALLENGE, our goal is to find Canada’s next great home reno or repair show “package” – a real handyman with real skill, real integrity and real enough star potential to host their very own show.

Over the course of seven action-packed, half-hour episodes the HANDYMAN SUPERSTAR CHALLENGE will be a fun and revealing look at both what it takes and who it takes to “make it” in this unique television genre.

One of the jobs we worked on recently had lots of issues from masonry to plumbing, but electrical was a big one and this is one thing I never mess with. What happened was the contractor they had hired previously had run the electrical wiring first.
Then they installed a steel beam on top of that squishing all the electrical wiring in all 3 locations it was installed. Why is it that a problem? If it heats up, it's going to arc in that spot and it's touching wood right above that, which means it could potentially start a fire. Structure always comes first and then electrical

I’ve been preaching for years about the importance of skilled trades and how we need to empower the next generation to see the value in building things right. Skills Canada / Compétences Canada is doing exactly that—through education, competitions, and real opportunities for young Canadians to discover their passion and talent in the trades.

I had the pleasure of a visit from Shaun Thorson, CEO of Skills Canada at my office. I wholeheartedly support the incredible work they’re doing to support and promote skilled trades across the country.

It’s organizations like Skills Canada that are helping to change the conversation of skilled trades in Canada. Fantastic organization for employers to get involved with!
