HGTV’s inaugural HANDYMAN SUPERSTAR CHALLENGE, our goal is to find Canada’s next great home reno or repair show “package” – a real handyman with real skill, real integrity and real enough star potential to host their very own show.
Over the course of seven action-packed, half-hour episodes the HANDYMAN SUPERSTAR CHALLENGE will be a fun and revealing look at both what it takes and who it takes to “make it” in this unique television genre.

Meet Michael, our honorary crew member. Michael has autism, and caring for him didn't leave much time for this parents to upgrade their bungalow. When I met Michael, I was surprised to see how much he LOVED our Holmes shows. He was quoting me 😂 and knew all of our episodes. He was learning from what I do. HIs parents told me Mike Holmes comes up in conversations everyday in their house. When I first went to his house, I didn't tell him I was coming. His reaction was so cute.
Of course we had to invite him to join our crew for the project. Watching him shine in construction, renovating his own house with me was really special. He took pride in what he was doing - loved seeing that. This is one of those times a renovation is more than just a renovation.
