The HOLMES Foundation is pleased to announce this year’s Make It Right® Scholarship and Bursary recipients.

The 2017 Make It Right® Bursary recipient is Zackery Castellarin.
The recipients represent a variety of construction related disciplines from various educational institutions from across Canada.
Mike Holmes established The HOLMES Foundation in 2006 to raise awareness on careers in the skilled trades, as well as to support youth training through apprenticeships, scholarships, and bursaries.
Every year, The HOLMES Foundation awards up to (20) twenty $1,500.00 scholarships and bursaries to students enrolled (or enrolling) into a residential construction program at a Canadian college or university. Students are awarded based on academic excellence and their commitment to a career in residential construction and/or renovation.
The mission of The Holmes Foundation is to ensure that all residential renovation and construction in Canada is done right – the first time – and to improve the image of pursuing a career in the skilled trades. We’re helping achieve this by making sure the right people get access to the right education,” says Mike Holmes.
Unfortunately, not enough new skilled trades workers are entering the industry to replace the older generation that will be retiring within the next few years. As a result, it’s estimated that by 2020 Canada could be short approximately 1 million skilled trades workers.
By supporting The Holmes Foundation you help counter the impact this shortage will have on our economy, our communities and the safety of our structures.
